Beginning the Beginnings: How to Start Writing
To paraphrase Elizabeth Barrett Browning, how does a writer begin? Let me count the ways: first with an idea, then writing words to develop an idea.
Facing a blank sheet of paper or computer screen frightens writers sometimes, especially if their minds match. Although, some people imagine a complete story, and then sit down and write, many can’t. So, maybe with a little help, filling the blank places won’t be as hard.
Several ways to find ideas to use in writing exist. We’ll look a some, but to discuss all the possible ways would take a book. Therefore, the easiest ways will do for us to start.
Read newspapers and magazines, at least skim them. A headline, a thought, or a quote may trigger an idea for a story. Take notes or clip the information that interests you.
Write a list of song titles or lyrics that appeal to you. I entered a contest a few weeks ago that gave song titles for prompts. Two captured my attention resulting in a poetry win and a second place in short stories.
Save photos or clip pictures from magazines. One way to start writing is to view something that gives you a scene or some action that will lead to a story.
Jot down snippets of conversation that catch your attention. Not only might one trigger a story, but the conversation could be usable in dialogue, make it more believable.
Use a real experience as a way to begin, whether from your life or someone else’s. One saying is to write what you know. For some of us that would be rather limiting, but anyone can include some experiences and then expand. Using the experiences of others can lead to interesting stories, too.
Use your imagination. Some people imagine stories until real in their minds. They then write down a fully developed story, needing refining and polishing.
Once you have an idea, how do you fill a blank sheet of paper or computer screen? An idea is barely a starting point; more is needed. Several ways to come up with material come to mind:
Free write words and phrases that come to mind about the idea you’ve chosen. Simply list the thoughts that pop into your head. After you’ve written at least part of a page, look at the words and phrases. Start putting those alike together. You’ve started.
Ask who, what, where, when, why, and how about your subject. Answering the questions will then give you a beginning.
List any information or details you have about your subject.
Try mental role playing. Using your imagination, take the part of different characters you may use, become each one. Play out the “story” in your mind. Write the rough plot, characterization, and so forth.
The ideas given aren’t the only possibilities, but they are a start. Therefore, on your mark, get set, go. You’re on your way.

Hip Hop Videos
Hip hop videos are an important source of art and entertainment. It marked its beginning as a promotional tool to support the artists in hip hop industry. The videos tell different kinds of stories to entertain the viewers. Some stories are fun. Some other stories are serious. There are even violent and sexy stories in the videos.
Hip hop videos typically show women characters in bikinis and these women characters come licking ice cream cones or lollipops. The music is based on certain standards without including any musicians in the videos.
Hip hop videos are necessary for those women who want to start their career in the hip hop modeling industry. These hip hop models first enter the video through small scenes and later major roles and then big roles in popular rapper’s videos. By doing so, these models gain more publicity and this publicity is important for their profession. The models who become popular enter movies and television screens.
Hip hop videos available in modern days give less importance to expressive movements available in hip hop dancing. Dancing accompanies a single beat without many lyrics. In hip hop videos, women are mostly objectified. They act according to the wish of the other people who are involved in taking videos. Videos are becoming more and more vulgar in recent days. There is no control on the scenes in the videos. This situation with videos may be because of the dominance of macho rappers who are in competition for making more number of videos.
Hip hop videos create problems for black Americans at all times, especially black women and girls. It strengthens the stereotypes about black women that have existed over years. The idea in videos that the black women are promiscuous, irresponsible, and emasculate reversely affects the policies the black Americans have.

Who Is Little Lotte? Discovering the Mystery Character in The Phantom of The Opera
One of the more inexplicable details in the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera consists of Christine confessing to her friend Meg that when she and Raoul were children, he nicknamed her Little Lotte. Lotte was a common diminutive nickname for Charlotte, not Christine. It seems that the dialogue was added simply to explain to the audience why they then sing a duet about Little Lotte.
So why does Andrew Lloyd Webber have a duet about Little Lotte in his musical, then? Simple. It’s in the original story by Gaston Leroux.
Now we get to the crux of the issue. In the 1980′s, when Phantom first debuted, no one knew who Little Lotte was. The offhand reference in the lyrics made no sense to most theatre-goers. But at the time when Leroux was writing his book, readers would have known exactly what he was referring to.
Little Lotte is a parlor game, similar to Twenty Questions, where one person knows the answer, and other people try to guess it. But in this case, the person lists three items, and the others must guess which of the three Little Lotte prefers. The secret is hinted at by the name of the game — Little Lotte prefers items with double consonents in their names.
So now, we have the lyrics: Little Lotte thought am I fonder of dolls or of goblins or shoes?
The correct answer should be dolls because it has the double-L. Since they both know the answer, they don’t bother answering, merely posing the next set.
Or of riddles or frocks? Or of chocolates?
Again, Lotte would prefer riddles, because of the double-D.
You can see why the game quickly fell out of favor. Once you know the secret, there’s no challenge. And that’s why modern theatre-goers needed an explanation for who Little Lotte was.

Leader Of The Laundromat Lyrics Beautiful Lyrics

Artists: The Detergents (peak Billboard position # 19 in 1964)

(parody of the Shangri-las’ “Leader Of the Pack)

The Detergents included the ubiquitous Ron Dante who, on his own, used multi-

track solos to create the Archies (“Sugar, Sugar”) and the Cuff Links (“Tracy”)

Words and Music by Lee Pockriss and Paul Vance

= sound effect

[ ]= spoken

( )= sung by backup group

(humming)

[Is he really goin' out with 'er? I don't know. Look, here he comes now. Let's ask

'im. Hey, Murray, is it true Betty's wearin' your ring? Uh-huh.

Who's that bangin' on the piano? I don't know. You goin' out with

her tonight? You bet yer fur. By the way, where'd ya meet her? ]

I met her one day at the Laundromat.

[She turned around and smiled at me, ya get the picture? Yes, we see.]

And that’s when I fell in love with the Leader Of the Laundromat

My folks were always putting her down (down, down)

Because her laundry came back brown (brown, brown)

I don’t care if they think she’s bad

I fell in love cuz she looked so sad

I got a date tonight with the Leader Of the Laundromat

[Dang it!!]

My dad said “Find a laundry that’s new” (find a laundry that’s new)

How can I tell my baby we’re through (tell my baby we’re through)

Gotta drive right into town

I don’t care if my shirts are brown

I got a date tonight with the Leader Of the Laundromat

[Dang it!!]

[When I finally got there, I told her it was all over between us. I'll never forget the

hurt and the funny look in her eye. She grabbed my laundry and ran into the street,

directly into the path of a runaway garbage truck. I yelled "watch out !, watch out !,

watch out !, watch out !, watch ou-u-t ! "

[Dang it!!]

I felt so messy standing there (messy standing there)

My daddy’s shorts were everywhere (daddy’s shorts were everywhere)

Tenderly I kissed her goodbye

Picked up my clothes, they were finally dry

But I won’t forget you, oh Leader Of the Laundromat

(oh-oh-oh-oh)

(ooh–ooh–ooh–ooh)

[Who's that bangin' on the piano?

I don't know.]
